Wah Liao Malaysia Won The Final!

Though they lost the second leg, they were overall the winner. If one were used to watching EPL or World Cup or Euro or even African League, they would think that the final between Indonesia and Malaysia was some under 15 tournaments. Aiyor pass ball also like main tikam. Laughable. But now that they are all heroes, I better not say too much.

Okay la, for a team so young to lead Malaysia into being the juara kampung Asia Tenggara, I salute you fellas. But let’s take one step back and see what are we looking at Malaysia football today. Back in my time, Malaysia was one of the most feared football nations in Asia not ASEAN. Those days Koreans were just playing balls, ie their scrotums. Even World Cups, Asian teams were token. They let in only because geographically the place needs some lousy representations.

But nevermind that. Last time, I tell you, even Malaysia Cup was fantastic. Nowadays I wouldn’t even bother to know which team is which. Back in my days, it was legendary. You have Johor (my favourite), Selangor, Singapore and sometimes Kelantan. Pahang and Perak were okay. These are the big states. With smallish stadiums (but being third world country, our stadiums were reasonable enough to hold the smallish population. Back then our Larkin Stadium could not hold anything more than 10,000 people. But yet as much as it was staged like WWF aka wrestlings dramas, it still gets the local people’s blood boil when out of states visitors came chugging along.

The rivalry back then between Selangor and Johor was amazing. I was such a young kiddo then and I even got a couple of friends to go along to watch one of the match. We shouted and we boo-ed. Though nothing as spectacular as what we saw recently in Bukit Jalil or that dunno-what-name Jakarta stadium, it was still intense. So intense that matches between Johor and Kelantan occasionally ended up with spectators fighting it out, outside the stadium.

Actually fuck the people in charge of football in Malaysia now that has made the game soooo bloody boring that only those with nothing better to do would go watch. You want to bring the game back to the people? You want? It is actually very simple. Make it a rich man game. Let the bloody chinese who wanna lose all their money to bookies to gamble.

First you get the game back to state vs states. No more minions like Tan Nia Beng (TNB) Bhd team or Tiu Ma (TM) team. Just get Johor to have one team. Then let the richest man in that state run the bloody team. Get MOF to write off the losses to their profitable operations. Let them import players. No restriction on number of foreign players. If they can bloody afford the entire Man U team, let them buy. Maybe can get one or two retired players in, like that Owen or Beckham or maybe even Pele. Then you will see people flocking back to watch football.

It is always funny how the football mad Asian countries would forever be lousy compared with all the other continents. But one day I would like to see myself going back to stadium and soak in the atmosphere.
